Kyoto is at your doorstep

Located between the scenic Kamogawa River, and Takase canal, this area gained infamy in the 7th centuru, when it was the residence of Nimamoto-no-Toru, the main character in the classic work of Japanese literature Tale of the Genji. Once called Gojo-Rakuen (Gojo-Paradise), this neighbourhood enjoyed a colourful past as Kyoto's pleasure quarters until the 1950s. The original headquarters building of NIntendo still stands only a few minutes walk away from Hazuki Kyoto, while a 20 minute walk along Kamogawa River will lead you to Gion, the famous geisha district of Kyoto.    

Hazuki Kyoyo is within twenty minutes walking distance to the world renown Gion geisha district and also Kyoto's most-visited temple Kiyomizu-dera. Sanjūsangen-dō (700m, 7 min walk)

This Buddhist temple, built in 1164, with a 120meter-long hall containing one thousand life-size statues of the diety, the Thousand Armed Kannon. It has been the venue for popular archery tournament called Toshiya since the Edo period. Before that, it served as the backdrop to the duel between famous warrior Miyamoto Musashi and Yoshioka Denshichirō in 1604.

With the oldest zen buddhist temple Keninji temple, the Forever Museum of Modern Art and the night lights of Hanamikoji Street, Gion is a wonderful place to indulge in Kyoto's culture at any part of the day.

A buddhist temple Founded in 951 by the priest Kuya, well-know for performing his prayers with musical rythm and dance for the public. The temple contains several sculptures designated as important Tangible Cultural Properties, dating back to the Heian and Kamakura periods.

Higashi Hongan-ji Temple (800m 8min walk)

For something a little off the beaten path, this impressive temple was established by 1602 by Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu. The sheer scale and the architectural features of this temple complex from impressive gate and large open courtyard is truly inspiring.
